What is the Open Forum?

The Open Forum is a four day public conference which takes place in parallel to the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos.  The Open Forum brings together thought leaders from government, business, civil society and academia to discuss pressing global challenges.  For further information on the Open Forum and the Programme of the event, feel free to click on the tabs About Us and Programme.

 

How can I participate in the Open Forum?

The Open Forum is accessible to everybody. If you are interested in any of the sessions in the programme, you should join.  

The capacity of the auditorium is limited, so we highly recommend you come early to get your tickets.  Tickets for the event are distributed 60 minutes prior to each of the sessions. Typically, participants start queuing for tickets up to 90 minutes prior to the start of the session.

 

Is the Open Forum free?

The Open Forum is entirely free of charge, but seating is limited, so remember to come early to ensure you get a ticket.

 

Where is the Open Forum taking place?

The Open Forum takes place at The Swiss Alpine Middle-School Davos.  The exact address as well as directions on how to arrive to Davos by train, car or bus can be found in the Location tab.

 

What's new in the 2013 edition of the Open Forum? 

To avoid waiting outside in the cold, we have organised a waiting room for participants inside the school.  This waiting lounge will also serve as an overflow room. 

 

How are the session topics selected?

The Open Forum team developed 15 sessions on a variety of global issues ranging from religion and megacities to oceans and unemployment. These sessions were then put forward to the Open Forum’s advisory board that helped the Open Forum team narrow down the sessions to the current 7 sessions. 

 

Is the Open Forum open to the media?

What is the World Economic Forum?

The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization with the mission of improving the state of the world, by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas. 

Although the Forum is headquartered in Geneva, it is best known for its Annual Meeting which it hosts in Davos-Klosters every year.
